Knoxville Fat Grafting
Lower eyelid bags make everyone look older and more tired than they actually are. They make the 25 year old look like they’re 40 and the 40 year old look like they’re pushing 60.
In patients of any age, the loss of volume is one of the principal signs of aging. Nowhere is this more true than in the central portion of the face around the eyes and cheeks, the breasts, and the buttocks. Many surgeons will recommend either a facelift or lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) to correct eyelid bags – they will try to “lift” tissue into what is felt to be a more “youthful” position. Breast augmentation to enhance the volume of the breasts is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the United States year after year. Buttock augmentation has become a very popular way to enhance the curves of the buttocks, hips, and waist in women who lack definition in these areas.
If volume is missing – whether it has slowly vanished with time or was never there to begin with – it should be replaced.
Fat grafting – harvesting fat from one area of the body and using a small needle to inject it into the face – can accomplish the goal of restoring volume to the face and re-creating a youthful, rested appearance without traditional surgery.
Am I a Candidate for Knoxville Fat Grafting?
You may be a candidate for fat grafting if you are healthy and:
- Have a tired, aging appearance
- Have lower eyelid bags that don’t go away (even after a good night’s sleep)
- Have flat cheeks or “low” cheekbones
- Lack definition of the hips, waist, and buttocks
- Desire enhancement of the face, breasts, or buttocks but do not want a permanent implant
Knoxville Fat grafting is performed in an outpatient surgery center, and in some cases can be done under a light anesthetic. Liposuction is used to harvest fat, which is then concentrated, purified, and re-injected into the areas what need it. Surgery length can range in time depending on what different procedures you and Dr. Hall decide are right for you. You will go home the day of the procedure and will apply cooling packs to your face to minimize swelling and discomfort. A snug compression garment is worn over the areas the fat was harvested to minimize swelling.
Swelling and bruising after fat grafting can last up to 3 weeks, but usually goes away sooner than that. Because the incisions for fat grafting are so small, there are no sutures to remove, and you can begin wearing makeup again after about a week. Because of the swelling after the procedure, you are advised not to plan any personal or professional appearances for at least 2 weeks afterwards, although the amount of swelling varies based on the amount of fat transferred and the specific locations.
