Do You Want to Have More Children?

The biggest question for any mommy makeover patient is whether she wants more children. If you have only one child and want more, then it is best to wait until after you are finished having children (and done breastfeeding) before having surgery. Because the changes that happen during childbearing can change the size and shape of your abdomen and breasts, the results of a tummy tuck, liposuction, and breast augmentation/breast lift may not remain if you choose to have other children afterwards.

Are You at Your Ideal Weight?

It's common for women to take time to bounce back from pregnancy. During this time your breasts may decrease in size from where they were during your pregnancy and breastfeeding. Also, most women lose the "baby weight" they gained during pregnancy once they start breastfeeding. It can take about two years after birth to know how your body will look in the long-term. Dr. Hall recommends waiting at least 6 months after you finish breastfeeding before thinking about mommy makeover surgery to let your body return to its "new normal".

The Right Time for You

Aside from all considerations about the best results, a mommy makeover requires time for healing. You will need to take a few weeks to heal and that can take time from your children and family. Make sure that you have the support needed for recovery because restrictions such as not lifting heavy weights and avoiding strenuous activity for a few weeks can be challenging without help.
