What is Liposuction?

L iposuction is a surgical procedure that can permanently remove excess fat from specific areas of your body, such as the abdomen, thighs, arms, chin, and neck. Liposuction results are usually long-lasting, although you may need to maintain your results with a healthy lifestyle.

Liposuction Benefits

The main benefit of our Knoxville liposuction is that it can contour your body to give you the shape you desire. Not only that, but if you have been struggling to lose weight, lipo can improve your quality of life by allowing you to remove the excess fat and start over so you can improve your health.

Lipo can:

Liposuction Vs. Tummy Tuck

L iposuction can remove excess fat from abdomen, whereas a tummy tuck addresses loose skin and abdominal muscles. If you have both concerns, you may be a candidate for a combination procedure.

Types of Liposuction

There are different types of liposuction that can be performed, depending on your goals and the areas being treated. The three most common types of lipo are:

Tumescent Liposuction:

This is the most common type of liposuction. A small amount of saline solution is injected into your fatty tissue before the fat is suctioned out. This solution helps to numb the area and reduce bleeding.

Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction:

This type of lipo uses sound waves to break up the fat before it is suctioned out.

Power-Assisted Liposuction:

This type uses a small, rapid movement of the cannula to break up and suction out the fat.

Liposuction Results

L iposuction results are usually seen within the first few weeks as swelling subsides, but it can take up to 6 months for the full effects of your fat removal surgery to be visible. Once the final results are visible, they are typically long-lasting, provided you maintain a stable weight.

Liposuction Procedure

L iposuction procedures can be done in any number of ways, but the basics are the same. After you have been given an anesthetic, a numbing fluid (called tumescent) is placed into the areas where Dr. Hall will perform the procedure. A thin tube is then introduced through a few small, hidden incisions and is used to remove the unwanted fat deposits.

Liposuction Procedure Recovery

A fter liposuction, you’ll wear a form-fitting spandex garment for a few weeks while your body recovers. This prevents fluid build-up and acts to support the tissue as it heals.

There is typically some skin bruising, and you can expect some mild soreness for a few days. People usually return to work in 3-5 days, and will wear a spandex compression garment for around 6 weeks for liposuction procedure recovery. If you have any questions about your liposuction procedure or would like to meet with Dr. Hall to discuss your options, call (865) 973-9500 or use our contact form and request an appointment.
