Facial Implant Surgery Knoxville

S ome people are blessed with high cheekbones, while some are not. The lack of a prominent underlying skeleton can make the middle portion of the face age prematurely, and can significantly contribute to a tired, older appearance.

We are coming to realize that not only do the soft tissues of the face change with age, but the underlying bones change, as well. Nowhere is this more apparent than around the eyes, jaw, and cheekbones. Facial implant surgery – placing custom made implants over the bones of the face – can help to rejuvenate a tired, aged appearance. Dr. Hall strives to deliver the best facial implant surgery Knoxville has to offer and takes care to place incisions in locations that are not noticeable after they have healed.

The Procedure

F acial implant surgery is performed in an outpatient surgery center, and is done under anesthesia. Surgery length can range in time depending on what different procedures you and Dr. Hall decide are right for you. You will go home the day of the procedure and will apply cooling packs to your face to minimize swelling and discomfort.

Am I A Candidate For Facial Implant Surgery?

You may be a candidate for a Knoxville facial implant surgery if you are healthy and:

  • Have lower eyelid bags that don't go away (even after a good night's sleep)
  • Have had previous lower eyelid surgery
  • Feel that you have a "flat" face
  • Would like a stronger jawline or chin

Facial Implant Surgery Recovery

O ver the course of the first week after surgery, swelling of the face significantly decreases. Sutures are typically removed 5 days after surgery (if there are any to remove at all).

Because of the swelling, most people take a week off of work to recover from facial implant surgery. If Dr. Hall made incisions above your gums to place the implants, you will need to refrain from eating anything crunchy (tortilla chips, etc) for approximately a week until your incisions have healed. If you have any questions about your facial implant surgery or would like to meet with Knoxville plastic surgeon, Dr. Hall to discuss your options, call (865) 973-9500 or use our contact form and request an appointment. For out of town patients, feel free to request an online consult via Skype.
