Blonde female botox patient's face

Dr. Hall has quickly become one of the "go to" surgeons in Tennessee for patients that want to eliminate their wrinkles. Make sure you take a look at our gallery of Before-and-After photos to get an idea of the kind of beautiful results our patients enjoy.

What is Botox?

Patients that have wrinkles on their face have a few different options to get rid of them. While surgery is an option for some patients, Botox is often a better idea for others.

Incredibly, Botox is derived from the botulinum toxin. C. botulinum is a bacteria that grows in standing water and sometimes in canned foods. Botox is a highly-processed and completely safe form of the toxin this bacteria produces that is then injected into the facial muscles below your wrinkles.

How Botox Works?

Once it is meticulously injected into the facial muscles, Botox temporarily paralyzes the muscles. This prevents them from contracting and "squeezing" the skin. The result is smoother skin while still maintaining your natural facial expressions. This is why Botox is the right treatment for some wrinkles, but not for others.

How Long Do My Results Last From Botox?

Patients can expect the actual Botox treatment to only take a few minutes. Some patients experience some mild swelling at the injection sites briefly after the treatment. From there, the results will show up within 5 to 7 days. But after that, patients will usually enjoy their results for around 3-4 months.

Now, the reason why patients need to get more Botox is that the body breaks down Botox and flushes it out. Because Botox is derived from the botulism toxin, the body will "attack" it and get rid of it, just like it would any other toxin.

One other thing we want to point out is that while it is a safe and FDA-approved treatment for wrinkles, some patients can actually build a resistance to Botox. Patients that get frequent injections can start to become "immune" to it as the body builds up a resistance to it. However, this is a very rare occurrence.
