Jeuveau at Trillium Plastic Surgery

N euromodulator injectables effectively eliminate or reduce facial wrinkles and fine lines, but not all neuromodulators are created equal. With an impressive list of advantages, Jeuveau has now moved to the front of the line.

What is Jeuveau?

Jeuveau is an FDA-approved injectable neurotoxin-based prescription drug used to smooth facial lines and wrinkles temporarily. It works exceptionally well to smooth those nagging frown lines (glabellar lines) between your eyebrows.

Like other neuromodulators, our Knoxville Jeuveau works by temporarily interrupting the nerve signals that trigger facial muscle contractions. Facial wrinkles are primarily caused by repetitive facial movements, which, over time, etch those lines into your face. Temporarily immobilizing selected facial muscles eliminates that continual tugging on your facial skin and gives it a chance to relax. Relaxation leads to wrinkle elimination!

Jeuveau works wonders on frown lines and effectively addresses forehead lines, crow's feet, and bunny lines.

Advantages of Jeuveau

  • Safe
  • Nonsurgical
  • Noninvasive
  • Convenient
  • Requires no downtime
  • Affordable
  • Sessions take only 15-20 minutes
  • Fast, impressive, and natural-looking results
  • Can help prevent lines and wrinkles from forming in the first place

Unlike other neuromodulators, you can start or stop Juveau treatments whenever you want without any adverse effects.

Jeuveau vs. Botox and Other Neuromodulators

Jeuveau and Botox contain slightly different forms of botulinum toxin type A. For you chemists, Jeuveau's formula is based on prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs. Glad we got that straight!

Both products are considered safe procedures when administered by highly trained and experienced medical professionals. While Botox is approved to treat a wider variety of wrinkles as well as some medical conditions, Jeuveau's cosmetic-only formula uses Hi-Pure technology that removes potentially harmful proteins to aid with absorption. But here's an important difference. Jeuveau is less expensive than other neuromodulators. Priced between $8 and $16 per unit, which is 20-30% less than Botox per treatment, Jeuveau can save you $40 to $80 per injection session. Paired with clinical studies that show Juveau may give longer-lasting results over Botox, that's quite the savings!

Are you a candidate for Jeuveau?

P retty much anyone who wants to improve the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines is a prospective candidate. Non-smokers are preferred. You should be in good health and have no chronic conditions such as:

  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Immune suppression
  • Bleeding disorders
  • Any active skin infection

Tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to any form of botulinum toxin. Jeuveau can be an excellent option for young people who want to prevent facial wrinkles before they get started. Consider this when discussing treatment options during your consultation.

Consultation and Preparation

After learning about your treatment goals and reviewing your medical history, Dr. Hall will design a customized treatment plan. He'll be happy to show you "before and after pictures" of previous patients. For a period before and after your treatment, you will be directed to suspend the use of any supplements or medication, such as aspirin, that may promote excessive bleeding.

Your Jeuveau Treatment

This doesn't take long! Maybe 15-20 minutes. No anesthesia is required, but we can apply a numbing agent and ice if you like.

Your doctor will inject a precisely measured dose into five sites around your frown lines. That's it. You are then free to get on with your day!

Jeuveau Recovery, Results, and Aftercare

Stay away from heavy exercise, alcohol, and exposure to excessive sunlight or heat for a day or two. After that, get in the habit of using a good sunscreen daily.

You'll see results quickly, usually within two days, with full benefits reached in about a week. In a recent study, 95 percent of patients described their results as "natural looking."

Jeuveau FAQs

You'll feel nothing more than a slight pinch, and you can always request that a topical anesthetic be applied to your face before your injections.

The most serious but extremely rare risk would be if the medication were to spread beyond your injection sites, which in some cases could cause difficulty in breathing or swallowing. Common side effects include temporary redness, swelling, or bruising, which typically resolve within two days.

No, because the effects of the medication on fetuses and breastfeeding infants have not been firmly established.

You can eat and drink water and non-alcoholic beverages right away, but it's a good idea to stay away from alcohol for two days.

The effects are not permanent and will wear off after 3-4 months.

While costs will depend on the number of units used and where your injections are performed, data collected by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons lists the average cost of a Jeuveau treatment session at $408.
