Having skin imperfections on your face or other visible areas of your body can be embarrassing for patients. So can fine lines and deep wrinkles, especially when you believe they make you look older than you really are (or look older than you feel). Fortunately, men and women suffering from fine lines, deep wrinkles, and a variety of skin imperfections can benefit for microneedling, an outpatient skin rejuvenation procedure that helps stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the treated areas, resulting in better-looking skin.
As you may have guessed by the procedure name, microneedling involves using a device with a number of very small needles that puncture the surface of the treatment area, typically the face. While this may sound painful – especially for those who have a fear of needles – the majority of Dr. Hall’s patients describe the process as surprisingly comfortable, and it is considered a minimally-invasive procedure.
Microneedling can address a wide variety of skin issues, including:
Vogue Magazine recently called microneedling the next big thing in anti-aging, and there’s good reason why. This process can treat both fine lines and deep wrinkles in just a few sessions, providing patients firmer and more youthful looking skin. The procedure is especially effective at eliminating creases in common problem areas including crow’s feet and wrinkles on the forehead. Microneedling is also considered a preventative treatment, as it stops fine lines from appearing in the first place.
Whether you’ve had surgery or an accident, a visible scar can be an unpleasant reminder of a painful experience – emotionally, physically or both. Microneedling, which stimulates your body’s natural rejuvenation process, can be used on the face and other areas of the body to eliminate the appearance of visible scars, giving your skin a more even appearance. It’s doubtful you will completely forget the experience associated with your scar, but being free of it allows you to focus on your positive physical attributes.
Most teens, men, and women are embarrassed by a bad case of acne. But, that humiliation can be multiplied exponentially when the pimples leave bad scarring on your face or other areas of your body affected by acne. Microneedling is one of the known solutions to rid your body of these telltale signs of acne, for good!
No matter how well we take care of our skin, the UVA and UVB rays in our atmosphere make us prone to sun damage, including sun spots, or age spots as they are also called. Microneedling can also minimize the appearance of sun damage, providing you with a clearer looking complexion.
Not everyone has a perfect complexion. Some men and women may experience uneven skin coloration, especially on their faces. Microneedling can be an effective treatment to even out skin tones, particularly for people with darker skin that may not respond as well to laser treatments.
Enlarged pores are quite noticeable. And for women, it seems as though no amount of makeup can hide this condition. As for men – well, they’re usually out of luck when it comes to hiding this embarrassing condition. Not anymore. By stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, microneedling can shrink large pores, bringing them to a more normal size.
It’s virtually impossible for you to know whether either microneedling or laser treatments are best to solve your unwanted skin condition. That’s why Dr. Hall urges his potential patients to come to him for a consultation regarding their skin concerns. During a complete evaluation of your problem areas, Dr. Hall will determine which type of skin rejuvenation technique is best for you, and come up with a personalized treatment plan, including an estimated number of microneedling sessions needed before your desired results are achieved.
Microneedling is an outpatient, minimally-invasive procedure. And, it has a very little downtime. On the day of your treatment, you will be given a special cream to reduce inflammation and speed up the recovery process. You shouldn’t wear anything else on your treated area for 24 hours, even though your skin will be reddish to pinkish immediately after your treatment. If you had the treatment on your face, you will typically be able to apply makeup after the first 24 hours.
If you have a skin condition that you would like to treat, including those mentioned above, why continue to suffer? Visit Dr. Hall for a consultation to determine if microneedling is the right solution for you.
