A strong chin is a facial feature that is desirable in both men and women. However, their chins are shaped differently and require different techniques to attain the right contour for your face.
Women’s chins tend to be smaller and more pointed than in men, who value a broad chin. Chin clefts (the notorious “butt-chin”) can be attractive qualities in men, but most women who have them wish they didn’t exist and choose to have them corrected. Chin surgery & procedures can occur in two forms – by way of an implant placed next to the bone, or by moving the chin itself. Both ways can serve to give you the chin shape you want, and Dr. Hall strives to deliver the best chin surgery Knoxville has to offer and can help guide you to making the choice that is right for you.
O ne of the decisions that tends to cause a great deal of anxiety when choosing to have a genioplasty or chin implant is: “How much is changing my chin going to affect my face?”
Now, with state-of-the-art computer imaging, Dr. Hall does all of his genioplasty or chin surgery consultations using the Vectra 3D imaging system. After your examination and a detailed analysis of your chin and face, Dr. Hall will simulate the surgery that will give you the most natural look in 3 dimensions.
Any other changes to help balance your face (such as rhinoplasty, which is frequently performed with chin surgery to help balance facial aesthetics) can be done at the same time, so that both you and Dr. Hall decide at your initial consultation what procedures are the best choices for you.
C hin surgery is performed in an outpatient surgery center, and is done under anesthesia. Chin surgery length can range in time depending on what different procedures you and Dr. Hall decide are right for you, but averages about two hours. You will go home the day of the procedure and will apply cooling packs to your face to minimize swelling and discomfort.
You may be a candidate for chin surgery if you are healthy and:
Dr. Hall recommends a BMI below 33. For patients above this range, he offers a comprehensive weight loss program to help make our patients ready for surgery.
Over the course of the first week after your Knoxville chin surgery, swelling and bruising of the chin significantly decreases. Sutures are typically removed 5 days after surgery (if there are any to remove at all).
Because of the swelling, most people take a week off of work for chin surgery recovery. If Dr. Hall made incisions above your gums to place the implants, you will need to refrain from eating anything crunchy (tortilla chips, etc) for approximately a week until your incisions have healed.
G enioplasty surgery or chin implant surgery starts at $6,500. Prices can vary depending on what changes are necessary and whether any other procedures are performed at the same time. Our price includes all surgeon fees, operating room costs, fees for anesthesia, and post-op care.
