Dysport at Trillium Plastic Surgery

F rown lines are no laughing matter. Fortunately, they can be controlled and even reversed using Dysport injections available at Knoxville’s premier aesthetic treatment center, Trillium Plastic Surgery.

Under the vision and direction of founder Dr. Jason Hall, Trillium is committed to helping you look and feel your very best!

What is Dysport?

Dysport is an FDA-approved injectable wrinkle treatment that treats “frown lines,” which are the lines between your eyebrows.

Over the years, repetitive facial muscle movements and contractions cause lines and wrinkles to appear on your face. Dysport works by temporarily immobilizing targeted facial muscles. It does that by blocking the nerve signals that generate contractions. Once freed of constant pulling and tugging, your skin gets a chance to relax, and those lines and wrinkles can be controlled and reversed. Bottom line? You’ll look younger, smoother, and more vibrant!

Dysport is derived from a neurotoxin named abobotulinumtoxinA. Along with similar drugs like Botox and Xeomin®, Dysport can produce safe and impressive results that last for months.

Dysport vs. Botox®

Let’s start with the similarities. Both are used to treat facial lines and wrinkles and are made from botulinum toxin, but there are differences based primarily on their respective formulae and protein attachments.

Dysport results tend to appear slightly earlier than those produced by Botox. Dysport is specifically FDA-approved to treat wrinkles between the eyebrows, known as glabellar lines. Botox can address those lines, too, but can also be used to treat crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles.

While costs will vary, industry figures suggest that Dysport is slightly less expensive than Botox.

Are you a candidate for Dysport?

D ysport is recommended for adults 18-64 years of age who have moderate to severe frown lines. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are disqualified since the possible effects of neurotoxins on fetuses and infants have not been fully determined.

Additionally, you may be disqualified if you have a skin disorder, a milk allergy, or a history of sensitivity to botulinum toxin. Some evidence suggests that botulinum toxin injections may interact with medications such as blood thinners and muscle relaxers.

Consultation and Preparation

Knoxville Dysport provider Dr. Hall has excellent listening skills and will take the time to get to know you and learn about your treatment goals. Ask all the questions you want and expect full and satisfying answers.

After thoroughly reviewing your medical history and asking you about the medications and supplements you are taking, Dr. Hall will recommend a customized treatment plan for you.

Before Dysport Knoxville patients may be directed to suspend the use of any medications that could promote excessive bleeding or cause other complications during your procedure.

Tell Dr. Hall if you have received any botulinum toxin treatment in the last four months, and let him know about any previous treatments before that window.

Your Dysport Procedure

Dysport injections are outpatient procedures performed in an office setting. You will be free to leave after your treatment, but it’s a good idea to have arranged for a driver. Don’t get back behind the wheel until you are sure about how, if at all, the medication has affected you.

Dr. Hall will first apply a topical anesthetic to your face. He will then inject a precisely calibrated amount of Dysport into five different areas around your eyebrows and forehead.

The procedure itself takes only minutes.

Recovery, Results, and Aftercare

We’ll watch you for about 15 minutes to ensure you’re ready. Expect some redness at your injection sites, and avoid scrubbing them harshly or picking at them.

It’s a good idea to stay out of the sun for a few days and make daily use of high-quality sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) following treatment.

Dr. Hall will provide a detailed aftercare program and help you schedule future injections.

Dysport begins to act quickly. You’ll start to see results in three days or less, and Dysport will not make your face look “stiff” or “wooden”.

Results typically last between 3-5 months, but you will need regular re-injections to maintain the benefits of Dysport.

Why choose Dr. Jason Hall at Trillium Plastic Surgery?

F irst, because he cares — deeply! His dedication to patient care is combined with the skill, training, and years of experience required of a top-level plastic surgeon.
